Explore More of Canada and Alaska

Brooke Rolley, Travel Expert – North America

Like all Travelmarvel’s Travel Experts, I live and breathe travel. Before joining the Travelmarvel team, I spent five years living and working in North America, travelling solo all over the USA and Canada. Now, I return two to three times a year to attend tourism conferences, experience tours, and find new experiences for our guests to enjoy. My biggest challenge is trying to pick just one or two amazing activities to do each day of our tour!

There is so much to love about Canada, including its natural beauty, wildlife, and, of course, people. Canadians have a reputation for being incredibly nice, and it is so true; our guests always say they feel like they are among friends when touring North America. My appreciation for Canada has been enhanced immeasurably by learning about Indigenous culture, and it is something I want all our Travelmarvel guests to experience. Hence, we have incredible excursions run by Indigenous communities showcasing First Nations arts, sports and storytelling. The proximity to the USA and Alaska is another perk to a visit to Canada, making it easy to visit several countries in one tour. It is a long flight from Australia, so why not make the most of it!

When it comes to recommending when to travel, there really isn’t a bad time to explore North America. The mountains, forests and emerald lakes are so unlike anything we have in Australia, and whether you visit in summer or winter, there is always plenty to marvel at. May to June is my favourite time to visit; the snow is melting, and the country is at its most peaceful. Also, early spring is the best time to see wildlife, as animals are coming out searching for food. Bears, in particular, are very active around this time. You might even have the most authentic Canadian experience of all, seeing a black or grizzly bear casually walking on the side of the road!

Happy adventuring!
