A New Era of Ancient Wonders
Inside Egypt’s Grand Egyptian Museum
After years of anticipation, Egypt has officially opened the doors to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in Giza — and it’s already being hailed as one of the most significant cultural unveilings of the century. This extraordinary new landmark is set to reshape the way travellers experience Egypt’s ancient past, and from 2026, Travelmarvel guests will enjoy assured access to this world-class museum as part of our suite of Egypt tours.
So, what makes the GEM such a monumental new destination?
A Museum Decades in the Making
Costing $1.2 billion, the GEM is the largest archaeological museum on Earth. Spread across 120 acres, its scale alone is breathtaking — but it’s what lies within that truly redefines the Egypt experience and brings the countries fascinating history to life.
The Full Tutankhamun Collection, Displayed Together for the First Time
For the first time in history, the entire suite of treasures from Tutankhamun’s tomb is displayed in full. Rather than being scattered across multiple museums, every item from ceremonial chariots to delicate jewellery, is gathered under one roof. This is the most complete and immersive King Tut experience ever curated, and a rare chance to see these artefacts exactly as archaeologists originally uncovered them.
Artefacts from Across the Ages
The museum is also home to more than 100,000 artefacts, including the iconic 3,200-year-old statue of Ramses II, now making a striking first impression in the museums entrance atrium. While once intrepid travellers would have to journey miles to see Egypt’s staggering collection of artwork, literature and architecture, the GEM galleries combine cutting-edge design with Egypt’s extraordinary heritage, presenting millennia of history in one beautifully designed, accessible complex.
